Spring Lake Property Maintenance Day
The Club’s Property Maintenance Day at Spring Lake is being scheduled earlier this year. We need volunteers to come out and help with the work. We want to get the dock installed and ready for fishing earlier than the past two years (when we had to wait until new sections of dock being built were finished). Ice out happened early this year at Spring Lake on April 20th. The focus of the day will be to do the dock installation, tree maintenance, and normal clean-up activities. One priority will be continuing the work started last fall on removing and/or topping/trimming down some of the older dying trees, and thereafter cutting/removal of the debris for firewood.
Normal “clean-up” work on the property will include: BBQ Shelter roof, eavestroughs, and interior; general raking and sweeping around the BBQ area; litter clean-up throughout the properties; willow growth trimming; etc. We also want to continue the work started last fall on improving the area around the dock and the boat storage area to enable easier and safer walking, and better lake and boat access. This will entail removal of leftover stumps and roots from larger bushes cut back last fall, removal of encroaching willow growth, and starting to level and fill in the area to the north east of the land-based dock. So come out and enjoy a fresh air outing, help out, have an afternoon lunch break of smokies/hotdogs, and perhaps plan on taking advantage of a late afternoon and evening fishing opportunity as well. If you want more information on the activities for this day or to volunteer your time in support of the Club, please contact Walter Harris at 780-464-1879.
