Protecting the boat launch

  • by

Last year around this time, some members and non-members were launching large boats and, believe it or not, even a houseboat, next to our pier! As you can imagine, this caused irreparable damage to the riparian area.
This has to become a HAND LAUNCH BOAT SITE ONLY.
The trout club executive has, therefore, decided to install a barricade to prevent people from driving down to the water’s edge, launching heavy boats, and adding to the damage.
Thanks to long-time member Larry Campbell for his efforts in designing, building, and installing the barricade.

Peter passed away peacefully in his sleep in Yuma, AZ.
He is survived by his wife Darolyn, children: Lyle (Heather), Michelle (Jan) Kristensen and Ric (Laurie); grandchildren: Raymond Mapplebeck, Rachel and Sarah Kristensen, Alyssum (Kiyo) and Dianthus Mapplebeck; 3 brothers: Michael, Brian, Phil (Pam)and 1 sister: Pauline (Don) Morris, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Peter will be missed for his quick wit and his ability to fix anything and to chat with anyone. He was a smart, stubborn man and an avid fisherman who was involved in many community endeavors, including the Lions’ Club and the Edmonton Trout Club. A Celebration of Life will take place later this summer.

Peter was a life member of Edmonton Trout Fishing Club. He originally joined in 1974. He used to manage and started the aeration at Spring Lake by himself and was out skating on the lake as soon as the ice was an inch and a half. Peter will be missed by all, and especially the members of the ETFC.
