PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Greetings to all ETFC members. We are in a deep freeze now but I hope everyone is out doing some fishing this winter or getting ready for the upcoming soft water season.

I have been out a few times to Devil’s Lake and Lake Wabamun and have had some success getting jacks and walleye. There have been mixed reports of success at Spring Lake but some big fish are still found.

A reminder that overnight camping in truck campers or RV’s is not allowed at Spring Lake. No matter where you are.

The lake ice this year is still pretty sketchy. Recent snow could prevent further ice thickening and also cause surface slush so please be careful out there.

I hope to see you all at our next regular meeting Feb 5 2019 featuring speakers from the ACA who conducted a fish survey of the Blackstone River in 2017. They were scheduled to present this topic this time last year but it was cancelled due to gun-play at an event on the weekend prior to our meeting.

ETFC LIBRARY

The ETFC has maintained a library of books and videos available to club members for loan for many years.

Currently the collection is stored at the Queen Mary Park Community Hall where we conduct our meetings.

We pay $30 per month to store this library and the rate is set to go up. Unfortunately, the collection has fallen into disuse primarily due to the availability of information available on the internet.

The executive feels that the money spent on storing this collection could be better spent elsewhere so we are asking for recommendations for the relocation or dispersal of the contents of the library.

ACA KIDS CAN CATCH

FEBRUARY 16, 2019 – WABAMUN LAKE, AB

The ACA is presenting it’s annual Kids Can Catch event at Wabamun Lake February 16, 2019 from 10 AM to 3 PM.

This is a great event for introducing kids to fishing and/or ice fishing.
All are welcome!

Bring your own gear if you have it or there will be gear for loan available along with bait, hot dogs, hot chocolate and a pre-drilled hole available.

This event coincides with the Family Day weekend and is a free fishing weekend which means that no fishing license is required. Be advised that all applicable fishing regulations still apply.

The ACA is asking for volunteer fishing mentors from the ETFC. If you would like to help out or want more information contact Patrick Snoek at the following link.
