This meeting is the Club’s Annual Live Auction. As most members already know, this is the most “fun” meeting of the year, as well as being the Club’s major fund-raiser needed for the Club to successfully carry on its operations and programs. Those who have attended before also know that it is an excellent opportunity for members (and family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc.) to get some good deals on fishing, outdoor, and other miscellaneous goods.
It’s that time of year again – we need all members to gear up and get ready for our Annual Auction. This year we have changed the date from our normal mid-March timeframe to mid-April, hopefully giving us good odds of getting a pleasant evening and avoiding nasty weather we have sometimes encountered in the past. As long time members will know, a successful Club Auction is essential for the Club to fund the major portion of our annual budget and programs. So we depend on our members to contribute to this key fund-raising event – all members are asked to do their best to provide their support. This means: (1) looking around your house/garage and contributing items of interest (fishing, flytying, camping equipment, tools, etc.), tying up and donating some flies, or donating any other items in sound condition that you no longer use/need; (2) getting the support of businesses/organizations that you work for or that you frequent in terms of donating merchandise, services, gift cards, etc; (3) telling your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, etc. about the auction and encouraging them to come out for an evening of fun and good deals; and (4) coming to the auction yourself and bidding on items you or your family can use. You will find attached a copy of the Letter that you can print/copy and give to the businesses you approach to provide support for the Club – they generally need it for accounting purposes in order to make donations. Additional copies of the Letter can be picked up at upcoming Club Meetings, or from Members of the Executive. Thanks for your contributions and efforts – they are both needed and appreciated!
